La Repubblica Ceca si è qualificata per i quarti di finale di Euro 2020. Agli ottavi ha battuto l’Olanda 2-0 grazie alle reti nella ripresa di Holes (68’) e di Schick (80’). Dopo un primo tempo equilibrato, la gara cambia al 55′ quando De Ligt viene espulso per aver fermato il pallone con la mano e impedito a Schick di trovarsi a tu per tu con Stekelenburg: Sabato 3 luglio, la Repubblica Ceca affronterà la Danimarca allo stadio Olimpico di Baku.
